The 6-stage marbelite resurfacing process
1. Drain and chip-back. Failed marbelite is mechanically chipped back to the original gunite or sand-cement substrate. Any loose plaster must come off — bonding new marbelite over loose old plaster is a guaranteed failure.
2. Acid wash and key. The substrate is acid-washed to open the pores and create a mechanical key. This is what allows the new marbelite to bond chemically and mechanically.

6. Slow fill and balance. Marbelite must be filled slowly (12–18 hours) and chemistry balanced over the first two weeks. Rushing this stage causes streaking and chalking.
